Stay Home & Sew – Plans

Stay home and sew….sounds like a great activity, right?

The past 2 weeks have been quite the whirlwind.  Two weeks ago I was setting up homework packages, last week I was working from home – which was a whole new adventure in itself with a toddler running around.

Now I’m here, desperately wanting to sew all the things during spring break.  I’m feeling a sort of anxiousness about this all and here’s why:

I have plenty of fabric and patterns.  I have fabric for projects that I picked up years ago and never got around to sewing it.  I have fabric for projects that I’ve since changed my mind about.  Plus, I have fabric from my fabric shop that I tried to get started up and running.  What am I missing?  Notions. I have some notions, but not nearly the ones that I need in order to complete my sewing projects, such as thread color or zippers!  This dilemma causes me an anxiousness.  Who else is in the same boat as me?

After much thought, I’ve decided that I’m going to fight it.  I’m going to sort out my sewing room and match my fabrics with my patterns.  If I have the proper thread color, I’m going to start the project.

Once all of this has passed, I may have a large pile of unfinished projects waiting on buttons, zippers, ect.  But you know what, that is okay.  I’m okay with that.

So without further ado, here is my spring break sewing plans!

Kelly Anorak by Closet Case Patterns

I’ll be sewing this pattern along side my friend Ginnie from Sew Me Beautiful!  We’ve already talked about our plans and shared our fabric choices with each other! The fabric I’m using a grey cotton twill that I purchased back in 2018.  I’ll eventually need a zipper and buttons in order to complete this project.

Pixie Tee by Chalk & Notch Patterns / Burda Style Children’s Top 116

Next up is the Pixie Tee that I’ve had for a while already.  I’m using this poly floral knit from my local Fabricland.  I plan to sew my daughter a top from the February issue of Burda Style magazine.  I’ll eventually need pink ribbon to finish this project off.

Burda Style Blouse 115

I really love the elastics in the sleeves at the cuff.  I’ll be using this polyester blouse fabric I picked up from my local Fabricland.  I’m not a huge fan of 100% polyester fabric, but I seen this print and loved it.  I figure this would be an okay top to sew with polyester fabric as they are 3/4 length sleeves.

Sabrina Slims by Love Notions Patterns

I’m very excited about this make and I’m not too sure why I put it off for so long.  I believe that this style of pant will be my go-to pants!  I have high hopes for this pattern. I’ll be using this fuschia cotton sateen fabric that I picked up last year at my local Fabricland with the intentions of making a Burda Style dress with it.  What’s your thoughts – Sabrina Slims or a Burda Style dress?  I think I’ve got my heart set on a pair of fuschia colored Sabrina Slims!

These are my plans for the duration of spring break plus social-distancing time.  In April, I have a couple more collaborations in which I’m excited for.  They both include using pattern companies I have not tried before, so I’m really excited for mid-April!

I’m Here!

Hello Everyone,

How have you all been doing?  How have you been handling this virus thing?

This is going to be a chatty post.  I’ve been away for the last couple of months focusing on work, family and sleep.  Not a lot of sewing has been getting done.  Plus, my work is taking over my sewing space to the point where I feel crowded and spend most of my “sewing” time trying to organize my sewing space instead of sewing!  I just don’t know where to put everything!

Have you been participating in any sewing challenges for 2020 yet?  I planned out a sewing module for the #greatmodulesewalongchallenge – but never got around to sewing anything from there.  I hope to share my plans and sew a module…one day.  I usually find myself finishing up a sewing challenge – once the challenge has passed.  Better late than never!

For the last couple of months I’ve been really good at planning out sewing projects and not very good at the sewing part, due to the feeling of being crowded in my sewing space.  I’m thinking with the way the next couple of weeks are shaping out to be, I might be able to finally have my sewing space fully organized without having to feel crowded.  Hopefully!

I have been doing a couple of pattern tests which I’m excited to share with you.

Let’s see, what else have I been up to?  Oh yes….we got a new puppy last month!  She will be 3 months on the 18th of March.  All black German Shepherd puppy!  She keeps us busy and on our toes!

That’s all for now!  I’ll be back shortly with some more YouTube videos and more blog posts!
